Universities in Nagaland

Nagaland has grown by leaps and bounds in the education sector. It is blessed with talented and well-versed faculties and complete modern facilities like laboratories, library, computer and internet connectivity is provided to reach the high standard of education.

Nagaland has a literacy rate of 80.11%, being 83.29% for males and 76.69% for females as per Census 2011. According to Census 2001, the literacy rate in the state was 66.59%. So, a change of 13.52% is registered. There are numerous universities and institutes in the state providing higher education in agriculture, horticulture, law, medical, technology, Vedic, veterinary ayurvedic, homeopathy, etc.

The state hosts some of major institutes of the country like NIT, ICFAI, The Global Open University. The Higher and Technical Education Department earned an independent status in the year 1983. Earlier, it was a part of the education department. This department is entrusted with the job of monitoring issues related to higher education in the state, in particular, formulating the education policies pertaining to higher education.It usually works in tandem with the Nagaland University and the University Grants Commission. etc.
